Rocks in thin section
The Fossils in Shropshire project has not just digitised fossils. In fact the collections hold many rocks and minerals as well as a representative set of Shropshire rocks that have been cut to make thin sections which show the minerals that make up each specimen. These are normally viewed under a microscope using different types of light. Use the slider below to show a sample of Wenlock Limestone under the different lights.
