We recently completed a first visit to the Natural History Museum to meet some of their experts and take a look for some of Ludlow’s earliest collections which it seems were purchased in the mid-1940s. The distinctive labels used by Ludlow’s curators makes them easy to spot but on our visit we were surprised to find many more specimens! We’ll be trying to get a better picture of exactly how many of these there are during the project as they include some of the most important material collected from the British Silurian during the 19th Century. They include specimens like these beautiful early starfish. We’ll be digitising similar ones held at Ludlow during the project.
