An eye for detail

The wonderful thing about taking detailed pictures of small specimens is that it often reveals things you might not immediately spot when you hold the specimen in your hand. This recent image shows lines around the head and body of a fossil trilobite. The lines are made when the matrix was removed by the person who prepared it. It has effectively been dug out of the rock that encased it for millions of years!
