A mammoth celebration


It has now been 30 years since the Shropshire Mammoths were uncovered at Condover. The original dig was a muddy affair, but resulted in the one of the most complete mammoth finds in Britain and a scientifically important collection. Now stored at Ludlow we’ll be digitising these during the project. To mark the anniversary of their discovery a celebration will be held over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of October at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre where the full size replica of the adult mammoth takes centre stage. There will be a series of events and activities for all, as well as a talk by Professor Adrian Lister from the Natural History Museum; an expert in mammoths.
