As a thank you to our volunteers we have recently been for a group visit to the newly refurbished Lapworth Museum of Geology in Birmingham. Dr Kate Riddington gave us a warm welcome and an excellent tour of the museum displays as well as behind the scenes to see their vast archive of material.

It was a great chance to swap information on collectors who gave specimens to both museums and to see some of the collections they hold which relate to Shropshire.

The Lapworth has recently been completely refurbished after being awarded a grant from HLF and is free to enter. With beautiful displays of rocks, minerals and fossils and an imposing Allosaurus skeleton taking centre stage, it's well worth a visit.

More 3D fossils

We've recently uploaded some more 3D models of our specimens to the Sketchfab site. They were produced after another session of scanning...
