Sea Scorpions

Silurian eurypterid

Our latest batch of images from the collections are now live on the Natural History Museum's data portal website. Here's a preview of one of the specimens we've digitised. Known as sea scorpions, eurypterids are extinct animals that hunted and scavenged the ancient seas. Some grew up to over 2 metres in length but our example is a more modest 14cm! You can get a preview of some of our other recent images on our gallery page.
