One slice at a time

Next week we will start digitising our collection of geological microscope slides. The slides were made to show the minerals present in some of Shropshire's rocks as well as those from much further afield like the granite shown here.

Slides can be viewed with ordinary light but if you polarise the light it reveals colours and patterns that help geologists to identify the minerals in the rock, and with that learn more about its origins.

If you would like to volunteer to help us with this part of the project, drop us a line via our contacts page.
