Evolving Shropshire

ammonites on show

Our new exhibition is now open at Ludlow Museum Resource Centre. Running until September 29th it's a chance to see some of the lovely specimens from the collections that help to tell the story of 500 million years of change in Shropshire's life and landscape. There are a wide range of specimens from microscopic fish scales to mammoth bones, sparkling minerals to ammonites.

The exhibition is our local contribution to the Natural History Adventures programme, a national celebration that coincides with the tour of Dippy, the Natural History Museums iconic Diplodocus cast as it makes its way around the UK. Dippy will be in Birmingham from May 26th. We are also glad to have some specimens that originally came from Ludlow, back on loan from the NHM.

Setting up the exhibition has been fun, especially getting some of the heavier items into the showcases. Who'd have thought dinosaur footprints would weigh so much?!
